Sailing on the USS Convergence

Wednesday's convergence success story belongs to writer Tony Germanotta and photographer Steve Earley, whose respective talents converged to report the launching of the schooner Virginia online -- in words, in images and in audio -- by early afternoon.

The story was destined to become the lede story in the print Virginian-Pilot 15 or 16 long, tedious hours later, but -- thanks to Tony and Steve -- online readers didn't have to wait to experience the launching of the ship.
